Shelby Roberts
Shelby is a born-and-raised Utahn who had a plethora of different pets growing up, from cats and guinea pigs to turtles and birds, which sparked her passion for animals at an early age. As she grew up, Shelby found that she also had a passion for people, which led her to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science. While at her first job out of college, she adopted the first cat of her own, Sulley. Sulley became an incredible support to Shelby through difficult events that succeeded her adoption. This relationship reminded Shelby of the importance of the humane-animal bond, leading to a career change.
Shelby worked at the Humane Society of Utah for 5 years; Beginning in Admissions, then ultimately spending 3 years as the Pet Resources & Retention Coordinator. While working at the Humane Society, Shelby had the privilege of working with local animal welfare organizations, including Ruff Haven. Inspired by Ruff Haven’s commitment to supporting our community of pets and their people, Shelby joined the Ruff Haven Team in April of 2025.
When not working, Shelby enjoys cuddling up with her partner and their three furbabies: Sulley, Loki, and Moony. Although they have tried to add more furbabies to their home, Moony has made it clear that she loves her humans too much to share them with anyone but her brother and sister. Shelby also enjoys hiking, camping, board games, continuing education, art, and naps.
