Description:

I imagine Moose in a home with a consistent person or people, who are also slowing down in life, with a good amount of land and only a few other pets (he loves animals with clear boundaries and stable moods). He loves to be pet and will tell you exactly where to pet him if you follow the movement of his head. He deserves to be in active conversation with his owner(s) - he has a lot of personality and opinions if you pay attention. Honestly the most cat-like dog I've ever met.

At home:
Touchy, playful, sleepier with age. Moose is a clinger, wants to be basking in the sun near you, on your lap (as a large dog) or sleeping somewhere soft also near you. He would sleep with his head tucked under your chin if you allow it (in time, of course). He'll pick up a toy or awwwoooo when he gets excited. You can turn that into play energy.

He knows sit, spin, out, down, etc... He really responds if you just talk to him. He'll ask if he can get on the couch. He'll ask if he can sit next to you. He'll ask if you can move the things on the couch so he can have more space. He is very smart, wants to please, will do anything for a tasty treat.

He loves walks with stopping every few feet to smell stuff and pee on it. The walk is for him, not for you. No running. Cross the street before getting to the house with the loud dogs that bark. Don't go into the dog park but meet all the dogs at the fence.

Outside or on adventures:
Loyal and brave and curious! Moose is very brave when he feels safe and loved and like you can protect him. He wants to smell everything. When we hike, he wears a muzzle with no leash. When we camp, we make a perimeter he knows to stay within, though he has taken off after deer if I don't say something quick enough to break his interest. He will always look to you as his safety. He does not like people or dogs rushing him (he has been bit by dogs before). He wants to come back to you if he gets scared.
