Stephanie Smith-

Volunteer Coordinator

Stephanie has loved animals all her life with a special place for dogs. It all started with a big red dog named Valentine that her family saw thrown from a car on a busy street in Southern California. They scooped up the 9-week old starved and sick puppy who beat the odds and lived a well-loved 15 years.

Professionally she has worked for the past 30 years in insurance providing benefits to employees injured on the job. She worked 20 years in California before moving to Arizona to care for her ailing father in his last 8 months. She then moved to Salt Lake City over 10 years ago and resumed her insurance career, which she enjoys to this day.

In California she volunteered for various charities, but the animal variety were her favorite. She volunteered doing fundraising and events for the Valley Animal Center while they built their no-kill dog and cat shelter in Fresno, CA. Once moving to Utah, she volunteered at a couple of animal organizations doing events and fundraising while fostering dogs for Rescue Rovers. She has also volunteered at the Concern Center in the food pantry stocking shelves and helping families choose food.

Stephanie lives with her husband, teenage daughter, 18-year old tuxedo cat and two red Rez rescue dogs Rescue Rovers transported from New Mexico. They enjoy hiking and snowshoeing with the dogs and volunteering helping animals and humans as a family.
